In My Opinion...
by George Petrides, Jr., CSCS
In my opinion...
- The core (muscles that include the abs, low back, hips, and glutes) is the most important area for all athletes to work.
- Weight training absolutely will not decrease one's flexibility as long as a good stretching routine is included in the training regimen.
- Weight training will decrease flexibility if a stretching routine is not included in one's training regimen.
- Upper body weight training should be included in a baseball player's conditioning program.
- The "new" AB ROLLER devices that are seen on T.V. do work very well for increasing ab strength but do absolutely nothing for decreasing body fat around the mid-section (as the commercials claim).
- The "new" AB ROLLER devices aren't a new concept at all. It is just an advanced version of the ab wheels that have been on the market for over 30 years!
- Women are way too concerned about gaining "mass" from a weight training program.
- Overweight people need to focus on 3 things to lose weight: cardiovascular exercise, resistance training, and diet.
- Overweight people who do not focus on those three things will remain overweight (Sorry!).
- There is no "magic" herbal supplement that will cause "permanent" weight loss.
